Product Description

2011 was a very difficult growing season. It was, in a word, "wet." September and October brought storm after storm. Spring was warm and wet in Southern Virginia, but summer brought warm, sunny weather with occasional rain. The wet weather returned when Hurricane Irene passed through in late August, and the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee came two weeks later. We picked our Viognier the weekend before Hurricane Irene arrived (fully ripened at 25.5 Brix), and the red grapes survived Lee relatively unscathed because that storm gave our region only a glancing blow.
