Product Description
A perfect growing season, 1999 was characterized by consistent warm days, with no temperature extremes, along with cool evenings and an extended warm fall. Shallow, calcium carbonate-rich soils of Red Mountain combined with low crop levels (less than 3 tons per acre) to produce fruit with exceptional depth and concentration of flavors. Creative water management coupled with closely monitored stress levels in the vineyard, extended growing season, providing the grapes with additional hang time on the vines, which resulted in riper flavors and darker colors in the fruit. The name Terra Blanca, Latin for white earth, is named for the high calcium carbonate content that whitens soils of our Red Mountain vineyard and helps produce the incredible depth and structure in the grapes. The first grapes were harvested from our estate vineyard in 1997
