Although Riesling is most closely associated with Germany, it is grown in many regions globally including South Africa, New Zealand and all regions of the United States. Ironically, it grows much more vigorously in cooler areas than it does in warmer areas. Riesling is considered to be the most noble of all wine grapes with many clones and many names. Mount Palomar Winery Riesling is believed to be Weisser (White) Riesling. Rieslings are made in many styles from bone dry to late harvest. Our regular Riesling is somewhere in between with a typical risidual sugar of about 3.25%. Dry Riesling has a residual sugar of 0.4%. Mount Palomar Winery Riesling is one of the oldest vines, planed in the late 1970's. Our 2012 Riesling is well balanced and medium sweet. In the mouth the wine is bright with fresh mandarin & orange. Great paired with Asian cuisine, white fish and poultry.
