Sangiovese is the primary, and most important, grape in the Tuscany region of Italy. Mount Palomar Winery was the first winery in Temecula to grow and produce Sangiovese, beginning in 1991. Sangiovese is one of the grapes in which the clone can be a huge factor in quality. There are many clones of Sangiovese and they produce wines ranging from very darkly colored, intense wines to light, thin, acidic wines. Our Sangiovese has black cherry and chocolate aromas along withh a hint of oak and clove, full mouth feel, moderate tannins and smooth, long finish.
